Technology focus on the Internet of Things

In this video, John Gole, author, presents the key findings of the Advanced Technology (AT) Watch report ‘Technology focus on the Internet of Things’, part of the Advanced Technologies for Industry (ATI) project.

The Internet of Things is one the backbones of digital transformation and industrial modernisation. The availability of huge datasets, coupled with recent technology advances in Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and fast connectivity capabilities, are all paving the way to new and more disruptive applications of IoT systems and services. IoT can help to operate more efficiently, improve quality of service and customer experience, introduce new services and improve many other aspects of their businesses. The European Commission and other governmental and international bodies support and stimulate IoT development as a key economic opportunity and driver of future innovation.

This video includes answers to the questions:

  • What is Internet of Things and what is its market potential?
  • How is Internet of Things currently used in Europe?
